Step 2 - Signing up to online survey sites
The survey sites listed below are all free to join and I personally recommend them all. They all send out at least one survey per month which will earn you from between about 50p to 3 pounds or points equivalent, for successful completion although they have different payout thresholds detailed below. To increase your earnings I reccomend that you join all the below sites then when you have some free time to fill in a survey there is a greater chance there will be one waiting for you.
Ciao! are an online company which deals with customer opinions. Their website has members reviews of websites and products that they have bought. The survey side of the site is the best I have so far found with frequent surveys, around 3 per month, high paying surveys with an average value of between 1-3 pounds per successfully completed survey and low payout limit of 5 pounds which is transfered directly to your bank account so it is 5 pounds cash. You can also earn money writing reviews as detailed below. This site has my highest recommendation and should be the first site you join.

2) YouGov
YouGov is one of the UK's most famous companies. It carries out polls which are often used for reports by the BBC especially political polls around election time. The main subject of the surveys it sends out are called BrandIndex surveys. Here you are asked for your opinion on differnet brands of a certain catagory, for example you could be asked to select from a list which make of car you have hear positive comments about recently and which you have heard negative comments about. The surveys from YouGov do not speciafic criteria for you to meet, as with the other sites, so all surveys will earn you money if you complete them. The surveys are sent out quite frequently so you can expect to find about 4 or 5 a month in your inbox. The downside with this site is that the surveys are only usually worth 50p and there is a massive 50 pounds payout threshold so although you earn quite a lot it'll be a long time until your first payout!

3) Test & Vote
Test & Vote is a varied online site and is different to the above sites. Firstly instead of cash you earn points; with these points you can chose to either purchace a ticket for a 1000 pounds lottery draw for 1,000 points or you can collect up your points and when you get to 40,000 points you can exchange them for a 10 pounds Amazon voucher. To earn points you complete surveys they send out which usually happens about once a month these are usually worth around 4,000 points each. There are many other methods to earn points on the site listed below.
4) Global Opinion Panels
Global Opinions is another of the sites where you earn points for your surveys which you later convert to cash. They send out about 2 surveys a month worth around 1000 points each. The surveys often has vetting questions at the start but even if you fail these questions you receive around 100 just for attempting to take the survey. When you collect 9000 of points you can then exchange them for 5 pounds cash.
5) Valued Opinions
Valued Opinions are a company that only deals with online surveys. They send out frequent modoratly paying surveys, aorubd 3 a month and worth about a pound each. Valued Opinions pay you in gift vouchers for different companies, the most popular of which is probibly the online retailer Amazon, or you can donate your earnings to a charity such as the World Widelife Fund. When you have earned 5 pounds and your account has been cretited with the survey earnings you are sent a voucher.
6) Lightspeed Consumer Panel
Lightspeed Consumer Panel offer payment for surveys that you complete. Unlike other companies you are sent an email when new surveys are available but then login to the site to access it. Once you login you will see a list of uncompleted surveys you have been invited to and they seem to be available for a long time after the invite is sent. This means that if you don't have time to complete it you can just login later and if you have lots of spare time, complete them all in one go! This is another site dealing in points which are then converted to items much like a reward card. You can receive Paypal cash for values as little as £1 = 115 points, get a £5 Amazon.co.uk voucher for 550 points or you can even get actual items such as XBox 360 games or a hammock for 5000 points. Each survey is worth about 100-200 points so achieving Paypal cash and vouchers is very easy although you might have a long wait to get 5000 points! Also for each survey you complete you will be entered into a £2000 prize draw!
